Bethania Children's Village
The children's home is situated about 4 km outside of Sumbawanga. I has space for 60 children. Here the children have their home. They attend school and participate in the work of cultivating the 55.000 m2 land, which belongs to the village.
GIRLS The small orphaned girls are not so visible on the street. This is because the girls are used for labouring in the homes. Many small girsl are taken into private families. Not as members, but as unpaid labourers. They do not attend school and do not get an education. At an age of 13-14 years many of these girls leave those homes. Some become prostitutes on hotels or in primitive night clubs. Others live in the street. Many have children and many die due to AIDS. The majority of women in Africa are totally dependent on getting married with a housband, who can provide for them. In return she must give birth to his children, take care of his home and work in his field. If the man dies or leaves her, she can only live by prostitution and begging. Future and Hope wants to help these young girls and women and has therefore made a section for girls in the childrens home in Bethania Childrens Village, where there is space for 20 girls. BOYS Common for the boys at Bethania Village is, that they for different reasons have been torn away from their family and have become street children. They have lived by begging and stealing and had a terrible life without any future and hope. They have stayed overnight in old sheds or out in the open under the trees. There they were often robbed or sexually misused by grownup men and therefore they had to find a new place to sleep every night. Their few pocessions they had to dig into the ground in order to hide them. NEW FAITH IN LIFE Since 2003 and until today more than 60 street children have had a new start to their lives. A safe and secure life on the childrens home Bethania Village. The oldest of the children have now started further educations in different ways. |
